A BLOGGERS VEGGIE FOOD GUIDE TO L.A (NO SALADS INCLUDED)

When I told people I was heading to L.A. I actually got a lot of "You'll be fine over there! Vegetarians all eat salad! it's salad heaven!" Wrong, wrong, just so wrong! I have put together a little food address book for the top places you can eat as a vegetarian/vegan IN L.A which are not salads or just plain tomato sauce pasta! (yikes!)
Vegan burgers are dressed like real burgers and not just with a slither of Ice Burg Lettuce, there is VEGAN cheesy chips and cakes, which actually taste like...yep, you guessed it, cake! not dried fruit!! Now, I am not shitting on you if you are in to all of the above (sorry if I have offended any one!) but it was so freeing going to a restaurant knowing I could have anything I wanted and I didn't have to hunt for the tomato, aubergine and bell pepper pasta.

JANE - 5830 York BLVD, LA, CA, 90042.
Pictured above in the first photo is the french toast I had. They also had a variety of milks on site and I later went back a few more times and tried different things! so good. This café is only open till around 3pm-ish and can get very busy. Go as early as you can! This place is amazing

ERIN MCKENNA'S BAKERY - 236 N Larchmont BLVD, CA, 90004.
A dairy, gluten free bakery I hear you say? yes! When I sat down in there I said to myself "finally, a place I can eat GOOD cake!" I am not GF, but I do suffer from another condition that doesn't always allow me to eat dairy items most of the time. Pictured in the other two photos above, this place was so nice to eat at. They do dairy free ice cream cones as well as cookies and classic favourites like chocolate chip cookies and Carrot cake! (My friend Amy works here but this is a complete unbiased opinion!) try the Cinnamon Crumb Cake if you're around the area! (picture three)

STORIES - 1716 Sunset BLVD, CA 90026.
A cute little book shop combined with a café. You can browse the books and sit down with a cup of coffee and read one. Also a popular spot to sit outside, eat some lunch and catch up on some work. I ate here a variety platter for just $7 and it was so delicious!

MOHAWK BEND - 2141 Sunset BLVD 90026.
I had the most beautiful cauliflower buffalo "wings" here with vegan blue cheese dressing. Not to mention a vegan burger that was dressed exactly like the meaty burgers are! pickles, cheese (vegan cheese available), onion rings IN the burger bun, the lot! (first picture below)

MY VEGAN GOLD - 4319 Sunset BLVD, CA, 90029.
Vegan Spaghetti Carbonara any one? Vegan Cheesy Chips? (second photo) These were so good and it was nice to walk in to a restaurant and have a "normal" dish (again, going back to the condition I have, it stops me from eating creamy dishes!) The "meat" tasted exactly how I remember it to be. The cheesy chips were so good that a lady next to us commented on them and I let her take a handful to try!

ECHO PARK CAFÉ
Based in Echo Park is a cute little café that I am sure has an official name but I don't remember it. It is a good little place to stop for brunch and coffee (picture three) I had the avocado toast with Strawberries, Melon, Lemon, basil and Chia seeds.

IHOP
One of America's biggest chains I am sure, we stopped off here briefly on my "All American day!" I had the NYC Cheese Cake pancakes which were so good that I thought it deserved a mention!! (I didn't eat the cream on top)

KITCHEN MOUSE - 5904 N FIGUEROA ST. CA, 90042.
Finally, last but not least. Kitchen Mouse. A beautiful little café on Figueroa street. This was a couple of minutes walk from where Amy lived and it was a nice little spot. I can't remember the name of what I had (second picture above) but it was filled with veggies, spicy sauce and topped with egg and chilli! A perfect way to start the day!

GHIRADELLI - Hollywood Walk of Fame
Not a restaurant or café but deserves a spot here. A Disney based chocolate shop (and a café which does Ice cream floats) that does the most amazing chocolate in a variety of flavours. We don't have them here in the UK, only in America that I have seen, but if you happen to come across a shop try the Pumpkin Spice Salted Caramel chocolate or Raspberry. So. Good.

That concludes my recommended places to eat. I hope you enjoyed it! If you want me to do more foodie based posts when I go away let me know and I will start taking more photos of where I eat!
